AFWA at CFWF 2022

The AFWA was well-represented in Regina, Saskatchewan at the CFWF National Conference held from September 29 – October 2, 2022.

The small but mighty Saskatchewan Farm Writers Association conference team built a program that featured its theme ‘Green is the Colour, Farming is the Game’. Multiple interesting tours included a sustainable cattle operation, a tour of an 1882 round stone barn rebuilt from the ground up, and informative discussions on climate change at the University of Regina.

AFWA support was strong, with over 20 members participating in the event. We also are proud to announce that two AFWA members had strong showings in the CFWF 2022 Awards program. Trevor Bacque of Bacque 40 Communications took home five awards, including Farm Writer of the Year. Ian Doig, Editor with Grains West, took home two awards. Ian also won Feature of the Year, with his article The Peace Process. We must also recognize two other Alberta winners Kara Oosterhuis and Jeff Melchoir. Congratulations to these AFWA members.
