AFWA introduces new bursary

In June 2017, the Alberta Farm Writers’ Association launched the inaugural AFWA National Conference Bursary with the objective to encourage and support professional development for members of the AFWA by assisting them in attending the CFWF National Conference.

Applications are evaluated based on the following criteria:

1. The applicant is a member in good standing with the AFWA.
2. The applicant is a freelancer or regularly-employed member who is unable to access funding from an employer to cover the trip. Preference will be given to members who have not attended a CFWF conference in the past.

Laura Thygesen was the successful recipient of the bursary in 2017, and she subsequently attended CFWF 2017 in Quebec City, Sept. 28-30.
