The AFWA has named agricultural communicator Ashley Nicholls as the inaugural recipient of the 2026 AFWA-IFAJ International Bursary!

The Alberta Farm Writers’ Association is excited to announce two new bursaries to support member attendance at national and international agricultural journalism conferences. Each bursary provides up to $1,500 to help cover costs for AFWA members in good standing. The AFWA-IFAJ International Bursary supports travel to the annual congress of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists. AFWA is now accepting nominations for Honorary Life Member (HLM) , the Association’s highest honor. HLM recognizes members who have made a significant contribution to agricultural communication and/or rendered eminent service to AFWA. Nominees must be AFWA members for at least 20 years and have demonstrated leadership in agricultural communications.
